What is the theory of EFT?
The basic premise of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. By correcting the disturbance on an energetic level, we simultaneously correct it on the emotional level.
EFT is a therapeutic approach to discharging excess emotional distress and liberating one’s capacity for growth and joy. It is a process that has its roots in both ancient Chinese medicine and the modern science of Applied Kinesiology.
What will it work on?
EFT has been successful with easing the effects of: addictive cravings (food, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs), allergies, anxiety and panic attacks, fears and phobias, anger, obsessions and compulsions, depression, dyslexia, enhancing one’s self-image, grief and loss, guilt, insomnia, negative memories, nightmares, pain and symptom management, peak performance (golf, tennis, public speaking, public performance), post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse issues, and more.
It is a psychological version of acupuncture except that needles aren’t necessary. It helps ease and release the emotional intensity of trauma, anger, fears, phobias, depression, anxiety, stress and other emotional issues.
- The results are usually long lasting
- The process is gentle
- Clients can use EFT themselves, after learning it with a skilled practitioner
- It is inexpensive to learn and use.
Clients “tune in” to their emotional issue while stimulating stress relief points by tapping on them with their fingertips. This stimulus provides a meridian “balancing effect” that helps replace emotional distress with a form of peace.
The client remains fully clothed throughout the session.
